In science, we have finished studying Earth's systems and are now learning about Earth's place in the universe.  Topics covered will be shadows, stars, the moon, gravity, and the sun.  The students researched the different sizes, temperatures, and distances of common stars.  They investigated the force of gravity in four different science centers.  Using flashlights, we have been modeling how the sun and Earth's rotation affect the time of day.  We will also investigate how the sun and time of day affects shadow direction and length by measuring our own shadows.

In social studies, the students finished their colony papers.  We are now learning about the causes of the American Revolution.  The students will look at evidence of the Boston Massacre to come up with their own verdict, engage in short plays/skits about different events, and create their own posters that encourage colonists to join the Revolution.
