6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Chromebook Initiative

6th, 7th, & 8th Grade Chromebook Initiative

Dear 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Families:

The Rochelle Park School District would like to inform you of an exciting addition to our instructional program. Strategic technology integration is key to supplementing an authentic, engaging, and relevant learning environment. We have been moving toward that goal over the past few years as we have converted over to being a Google for Education school and significantly upgraded our technology infrastructure. In continuance of that end, we will be implementing a 1:1 Chromebook initiative at Midland School. Every 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student will receive a Chromebook that will be used to foster creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. Students will be provided daily access to valuable applications and resources to strengthen student achievement across the curriculum and foster the development of 21st century skills.

Early next week we will both email and send home in hardcopy information on our Acceptable Use Policy and Frequently Asked Questions. We will also include information on our Maintenance/Self-Insurance Fee. This fee covers unintentional and non-negligent damage in addition to a yearly accidental damage waiver.

Since the program is being phased in, the information for the 6th, 7th, and 8th grades are all somewhat different. Please (1) look over the information carefully, (2) fill out the forms completely, (3) return them to your English teacher, (4) follow the instructions for going on-line to pay the Maintenance/Self-Insurance Fee, and once all of this is done (5) your Chromebook will be issued.

Again, all of this will be emailed and will be going home with your student early next week. Once you receive and review the information, feel free to contact me directly with any questions/concerns that you may have at gzoeller@rochellepark.org.

Have a pleasant weekend,

Geoffrey W. Zoeller, Jr., Ed.D.
