HHS Busing Update

Attention: Parents of Hackensack High School Students

As you are aware, the district has been in continuous discussions with the John Leckie Bus Company about the ongoing issues with the bus routes they are contracted to provide Rochelle Park students who attend Hackensack High School. Our three chief concerns have been: (1) that students are picked-up and dropped-off at consistent times so that families can better plan, (2) that bus stops are at established locations, and that (3) students arrive at and depart from HHS consistent with being "on time for school."

Based upon these ongoing conversations, John Leckie has provided us with revised pick-up times associated with two of our stops. These are attached in a PDF file provided to us by Tim Leckie himself.  Click HERE.  I continue to be quite upset that this issue was not fully resolved earlier and that if changes were necessary, these should have been discussed and communicated to our district and to you well in advance.  Mr. Leckie takes full responsibility for this whole matter and has apologized to me multiple times in the strongest terms.  He has also stated that your child will be provided with a hardcopy letter from his company to this point as they exit the bus today.

I want to be very clear to everyone, this school district in no way endorses what I consider to be a business practice failure on the part of the John Leckie Bus Company.  We fully appreciate and sympathize with the hard feelings many of you now have – my staff and I share them.  This was no way to start off the school year for anyone and most especially for our students.  Mr. Leckie assures me that with these changes in place, the situation is now resolved.  Let me tell you – it better be!  To that end, if there continue to be issues, even with these revised times, I want to know about it ASAP.
